Hello, I downloaded three different types of datasets of the same observation FRT00013d75_07_if163j. Then, I used the CAT tool in ENVI to produce the ICE summary product. Before projecting, the summary products were flattened (of course, flattening was not done with the MTRDR summary product). I was expecting Green (indicating surface rich in H2O ice) and magenta region (mix of CO2 ice, H2O ice, and dust). Following image shows ICE summary product using TER dataset (leftmost), TRDR dataset (middle) and MTRDR dataset (rightmost). 1. While the MTRDR dataset shows a large area represented by light pink(shade of magenta, TER and TRDR datasets fail to do so. See…

Hello, Unlike limited MTRDR CRISM products available on Mars ODE, there are a plethora of TRDR products. I was wondering, after creating the Map product of TRDR using ENVI, can we join the two S and L products? Like, I am getting visible spectra by processing Visible Data (S product) and IR spectra of same ROI after processing Infrared Data (L Product). I want to get the full spectral profile (as we get from the MTRDR product. Can anyone help regarding this? Thanks in anticipation!

To whom it may concern, I'm working on a university project where we're supposed to come up with a power solution for a hypothetical rover mission. We've found a lot of useful data on past mars rover missions to guide our design decisions. Looking at the sojourner micro-rover from the pathfinder mission has been especially helpful, as it's basically the scale we're targeting, and there's information available about power usage of different subsystems, power generation from solar panels, and battery capacity. The one thing that we're missing which would really help narrow down design decisions, is a record of energy generated and energy used for each day of the …

The PDS Geosciences Node has created a Jupyter Notebook (jupyterNotebookViewIMG.zip) to provide users with an option for viewing a browse representation of a PDS3 or PDS4 image and saving it as a PNG file using Python code. A Jupyter Notebook is an open source web application interface for creating and sharing code examples and documentation. The patterns provided in the Jupyter Notebook can be used as a sample for your own code when working with PDS images in Python. More about the Jupyter Notebook can be found here: https://pds-geosciences.wustl.edu/tools/pds_image_jupyternb.html

Hi everyone,☺️ I'm currently working on a project that requires high-resolution Digital Elevation Model (DEM) data. I've been trying to download this data from the GeoWeb portal, but I'm running into some difficulties. Specifically, any dataset larger than 1GB seems to be causing problems. The downloads either stop unexpectedly or the files become corrupted. I’ve already tried using different browsers and internet connections, but the issue persists. Has anyone else encountered similar problems when downloading large files from GeoWeb? If so, how did you resolve them? Are there any specific settings or tools that could help ensure a successful download? …

Hi, I've been working with TRDR CRISM data, specifically trying to identify minerals with the CRISM Spectral library but I keep on ending up with the same spectral signature every time. I corrected atmospherically and photometrically my data cubes and also I have created my IR Summary products. I know something's off because the statistic results are always the same, no matter if I'm working with a D2300 parameter or a BD1900r2 or even with different observations (CRISM scenes) I keep on getting the same results. Could someone help me solve this issue or maybe help me recognize what might be wrong? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks

Just wondering if there any automated method to make ratio image (I/F ratio or pixel-wise ratio) of MTRDR data. Since the image is projected, how to find denominator (or column median) in MTRDR data for extracting ratio spectra?

Hi, I understand that using CAT ENVI tool we can do ATP correction to an CRISM image by selecting a single image file each time. However, I need to use ATP correction for thousands of CRISM images. Just wondering if there is any way I can run batch ATP process multiple images without needing to select a single image at each time? Thank you, Emran

Hello, community I was hoping someone could help me fix this error (image below) that I get when I try to project CRISM I/F TRDR data. I already tried fixing the problem by following the instructions from https://pds-geosciences.wustl.edu/missions/mro/CAT_mapProjection_Fix.pdf but it didn't seemed to help. It might seem obvious for some, but I'm using ENVI 5.3 and CAT 7.4. Any advice would be appreciated.

Dear all - I understand the conversion and display of .img images has been a long discussed topic. I have visited various feeds/posts & tried searching online but to no avail. So I am hoping if someone can give me some pointers here. Thanks a lot ^^ I am working on converting a digital bouguer map on mars to tiff (https://pds-geosciences.wustl.edu/mro/mro-m-rss-5-sdp-v1/mrors_1xxx/data/rsdmap/ggmro_120_bouguer_90.lbl, with its .img file). I have tried to display the .img file with Nasaview/ImageJ etc but all rendered file type unsupported. Then I tried to translate the .lbl to .tif by gdal, but the output.tif is not displayable (file corrupted). I have tri…

Hi All, I am trying to calculate the time required for a channel on Mars to deposition certain amount of chloride in an area. I know the volume (and the mass) of chloride deposit in my study area. I have calculated discharge rate of the channel using Manning's as well as Darcy Weisbach's equation. I have used CTX DEM for measurements. Can anyone tell me how to proceed further? Thanks Deepali

Hello community, While working with MSV, HSV crism ids of a region near the south pole, am finding strange results after processing CRISM cubes. These crism observations belong to the same period of the year (between Ls 180-270). While some crism images after atm correction and georeferencing seems fine, other show different colours and strange patterns (diagonal dark streak lines) and horizontal layers of diff colours (rightmost strip over the study region). While same procedure for processing the cubes has been applied, why some results are showing strange patterns. Does anyone have better understanding? (See attachment)

Hi there, I am a PhD student at ICL, and am looking to work with CRISM TRDR images, which will need map projecting. I don't (currently) have access to a IDL licence for ENVI, so I don't think I can install and run the CAT toolkit, and am wondering if it is possible to map project the TRDR images via a different piece of GIS software? I have also tried installing JCAT, which unfortunately does not seem to open when run. Any help would be much appreciated, Best, Rob Platt

I'll like to point I ve been processing some CRISM cubes, and have realized that the processing (particularly, projecting the cube) time is much longer in ENVI 5.6 in comparison to ENVI 5.0. For instance, an MSV took 10-12 mins to georeference in latest version, while it took 2-3 mins in the former. Can anyone from the developers team verify and tell why this is happening so?

Hello, For my thesis completion: I’m trying to calculate the color of a lab reference mineral with the summary parameters formulations as Viviano et al. (2014) did in this figure (9): For that, I used the relevant summary parameters formulations described in Viviano et al. (2014), table 2, and section 4. But first, to check that my calculations are correctly implemented (using Matlab), I tried to calculate them on an IF_TER cube to reproduce the same browse product as I would get if I opened it by the pre-calculated summary parameters bands in the SU_TER cube (as was shown originally in the data processing pipeline by Seelos et al. 2011)…

Hey, I've been using CAT 7.4 for a long time now. I don't know what has gone wrong. A single CRISM cube is taking approx 10 mins to build GLT file ( see screenshot) while projecting, which earlier used to take seconds. I have ENVI 5.6 installed on my i9 processor PC with 64 GB RAM. So, I am sure it's not about hardware. Please, anyone, help as I have a plethora of CRISM cubes to process. Thanks in anticipation!

Hello CRISM Team! I have been using CRISM data for around 2 years and I appreciate the team for providing useful workshops and TRR-V3 data. I am wondering no new workshops have came up for using CRISM data. Recently, I have processed MSP and HSP images (TRDR) of Hellas Planitia region. In HSP dataset, I am getting a lot of bad bands. Though ATP and PHT corrections ignore some bad bands, but after applying these corrections, hsp0002d9a3 is getting worse (Display 2 in screenshot) as there might be more bad bands. Projecting the cube and applying destriping (Display 3 in screenshot) gives unusual results. Similar issues are being faced while processing some ot…
