Using ODE

  1. Started by jgeer,

I am currently working on a school project and am trying to download topographical images of Mars at high resolution. I am still trying to figure everything out on the sites and learn how to use the Mars Orbital Data Explorer. However, I am running into the issues of my downloaded files being corrupt for some reason. I am following the instructions from the User Manual the best I can, but it does not seem to be working. I add the items I want to my cart, and when I receive the email confirmation, I download them using FileZilla. When I try to open the .img files though, I get an error message saying the disc image is corrupt. I have also attempted to convert those files i…

  2. Hi, I was trying to search for LROC Wide Angle Camera Color data: "Calibrated Data Record Wide Angle Camera - Color (CDRWAC)" for a region of interest. The search returned 947 files. I tried searching for ways to either filter out data or sort it in a way that I don't have to go through each record. However, other than basic options such as by Mission, Instrument, Product ID and Observation Parameters, there were not a whole lot of options. I wish to share a few suggestions that I could think of, that might help: a) Sorting by coverage: While there were some data covering very small parts of the region of interest (ROI), there were others covering large par…

Hi, I downloaded the image files I wanted, but I'm having trouble opening them. The IMG files are supposed to be mounted, but they are always said to be "damaged". Is there a section describing how to deal with all the formats found in ODE? Thank you.

This is regarding Mini-RF Forerunner NASA instrument onboard Chandrayaan-1. I am trying to decode the Raw Packetized Data Record (PDR) in CCSDS format. I am able to decode all the auxiliary information. But when I am trying to decode Science data (echo data) in the packet, I am not able to find information regarding complex samples. Nothing regarding the complex sample (individual I & Q) and BAQ is mentioned in data format (PDS Data Product Software Interface Specification: MRF-4008, page number 11). In particular, ftp://pds-geosciences.wustl.edu/lunar/ch1-orb-l-mrffr-1-pdr-v1/ch1mrf_0xxx/document/dp_sis/mrffr_dp_sis.pdf is the document i am referring to. A…

Hi, I found an easy way to use the new HiRISE HiView viewer within ArcGIS 10. It is explained on my blog: http://leukvoorj.iivision.com/?p=578 For everything to work I added a column JPIPURL to your HiRISE footprint shapefile. I was wondering if you could maybe add this to your shapefile? Thanks in advance, Jelmer Oosthoek

  7. Started by Jelmer Oosthoek,

Hi, Just want to let you know that I found a small geometry error in the polygon feature with FID=22954 in http://ode.rsl.wustl.edu/mars/datafiles/derived_products/coverageshapefiles/mars/mro/hirise/rdrv11/mars_mro_hirise_rdrv11_c0a.zip (one part of the image PSP_008342_2655_RED). Visual inspection in ArcGIS showed it was not a correct polygon. Cheers, Jelmer
