Is the information about the direction of one of Curiosity's camera included in the PDS Label information? Could someone explain how to translate the data information so that the bearings of the camera when a picture was taken can be understood according to North-South-East-West on the martian planet? Thanks, Leslie Charles

Where do these documents come from? The PDS archives have nothing of the sort.

Hello, I am trying to determine the size of features in a particular MSL Curiosity image, and I'm unsure how to do this. Ultimately, I would like to use the photo, with a scale bar, in a comparison to a terrestrial feature. I have looked over the PDS Label, but am unsure what to do with the information. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here's the deal: I'm trying to download these images from a video sequence, but i can only see 10 which are K type full-res (1600x1200) images, and the rest are jpeg 444 thumbnails (96x80). In the label file i can see the video was requested for 112 frames with 3 second interval. I would like to see the entire sequence in full resolution; is this because the raw transmission was made in thumbnails or is there any way i can see the full resolution images? This is my best attempt at compiling it into a video: https://streamable.com/7nak5 You can see there are a couple high resolution images amongst the potato quality footage

This is probably just exposing my ignorance, but how does one scale images from Opportunity? I get the mrad/pixel values, etc., but don't I still need distance to target to scale the image (or part of an image) to a metric like centimeters? Are the random Pancam images of a ball on a stick used somehow for this purpose? By exploring the MERB Notebook I can look at all of that wonderful data from each Sol, but I also understand there's supposed to be a SIS associated with each data package? Is this the same as viewing the PDS label? I was hoping that documentation would help resolve some of this issue. Again, I apologize for my ignorance. I've been searching fo…

  7. Started by lorifenton,

I'm a little new to the Analyst's Notebook, so maybe I'm just missing some basic background. I'm trying to get an idea of data products and visual context for some Spirit targets (at the moment, the El Dorado targets Gallant Knight, Shadow, and Edgar), and I'm having a tough time figuring out exactly which MI images show which feature. With some digging I can figure out the first two targets, but I can't find much for Edgar at all. When I do a document search on Edgar I get a downlink report saying that MI of it was taken on sol 710 (but I knew that already), and nothing more useful than this. When I do a target search, nothing comes up. It would be really nice to open up…

Hi, Thanks for the great product of Analyst's Notebook! I tried to sign up a new account, but it always tells me the password was too simple. I tried some complicated combinations including letters and numbers, and it still says "it is too weak" A second question is: how can I search only the red-blue mosaics of the NC? I tried to read the help file and go through all the options, but no good luck. Thanks, Jun

  9. Started by Christoph,

So I am trying to use the Spirit (MERA) Analyst's NotebookSpirit (MERA) Analyst's Notebook and it doesn't seem to be working for me. Example: http://an.rsl.wustl.edu/mer/merbrowser/browser.aspx?m=MERA&sol=358&cat=NONE I go there and click on any of the drop down options and it goes to: http://an.rsl.wustl.edu/mer/merbrowser/error.html?aspxerrorpath=/mer/merbrowser/browser.aspx which is a blank page. My .NET is up to date and I have used FF, IE, and Chrome. Any help??

Hi - I use the Notebook frequently for monitoring missions and finding data. Very useful, a great resource. But I want to ask about the names of features (such as small rocks or craters) and science targets on them. OK, so for MER I go to the site maps and I can make a map of a site out to a specified distance with feature names on it. I have overlaid those maps on vertical projection mosaics to identify rocks at some sites. (Why? I'm beginning to compile a map and image-based history of MER operations, having just done it for Viking and Pathfinder in a book due out next year). But... first, it's an inefficient way to find all named features. This is e…
