  1. Hi, I understand that using CAT ENVI tool we can do ATP correction to an CRISM image by selecting a single image file each time. However, I need to use ATP correction for thousands of CRISM images. Just wondering if there is any way I can run batch ATP process multiple images without needing to select a single image at each time? Thank you, Emran
  2. I'll like to point I ve been processing some CRISM cubes, and have realized that the processing (particularly, projecting the cube) time is much longer in ENVI 5.6 in comparison to ENVI 5.0. For instance, an MSV took 10-12 mins to georeference in latest version, while it took 2-3 mins in the former. Can anyone from the developers team verify and tell why this is happening so?
  3. Hello, How exactly is each summary product converted to an 8-bit RGB channel component of the browsing product? Is there a code procedure in CAT to use with IDL? Are the values in the summary product at a normalized intensity from 0 to 1? If so then is it only left to convert the values to a range [0, 255]? Thanks, Nathan
  4. Hello, What do I need to define a new mineral Type Locality? How do I search for new minerals that have not yet been defined with a type locality? I thought of calculating the RGB color of a target mineral lab reference spectrum, with related summary products and then looking for pixels in the related Browse Product scene that have a similar color. Is it a good way? If yes, how do I do the band math on a spectrum instead of on an image? And is there a way to do this with the codes from the directory ‘CAT_ENVI\save_add\CAT_programs\Additions\SummaryParams2014’ ? Thanks, Nathan
  5. Hi, I am trying to use the MSP I/F data from CRISM for spectral analysis. It is of the third version (TRR3). I followed these steps: 1)Convert PDS file to CAT file 2)Photometric correction (divide by cosine of incidence angle) 3)Atmospheric correction using the Volcano Scan technique (default 61C4) However I am yet to do the destriping and despiking for the data cube. I am not sure of which option to use - CIRRUS clean cube or the MRO CRISM Remove Stripes. Additionally, I also found that in one of the workshop presentations, it is not necessary to go for destriping and despiking for TRR3 products. Has anyone here processed MSP TRR3 data or have resources that explain the necessary pre-processing required?
  6. Hello, I installed CAT 7.3.1. in ENVI 5.4 as per the instruction. ENVI shows CAT tool neither in menubar nor under Display. An extension toolbox has created named ''cat_menu'' (see attachment). But, this icon doesn't work also! How can I fix this? Thank you,
  7. Dear all, I have been trying to use CRISM TRDR (trr3) image of ''FRS0002AEAB_01_IF167L_TRR3'' and ''FRS0003012C_01_IF167L_TRR3'' using CAT in ENVI. However, after standard corrections (ATP), I tried to project the image cube using ''Project Single Cube Data'' option. I got a projected image of bad shape which does NOT match with map context image and kml shape (attached the screenshots). I guess only a part of the image was projected. Also, CAT showed a message after performing the processes (attached also). Can anyone please let me know how can I fix the problem? Thank you, Emran
  8. Dear all, I was trying process CRISM TRDR (.trr3) data using standard corrections in CAT 7.3.1. following the procedure: 1. FRT IF to CAT 2. ATP and Photometric correction 3. Map Utilities- Project Single Cube 4. Summary Products However, when I tried to project single cube the CAT showed an error message though I got a projected image in the window. Attached here is the error message. How can I fix this problem? Another thing, is the procedure above complete to analyze CRISM data? Or, I need more corrections like EPF, Spectral shift, spectral smile etc. to process TRDR data? Can I use MTRDR data directly without any correction, just using SU products? Thank You! Emran

Hi, I've come across many workshop presentation papers and research papers in which the processing of CRISM images include 'Spectral Smile Removal' and the entire sequence of Empirical Processing. 1. When we download the TRR3 data, is it already taken care of? Or do we have to follow a certain algorithm to manually apply it? Can you please suggest me how to do it? It is not mentioned in any workshop papers. 2. If we have to manually perform this task, do we have to do it via IDL/MATLAB programming or is it possible to do so in a GUI software (viz CAT, ENVI)?   11. Hello, When using the CIRRUS corrections within CRISM CAT I obtain an error - part of which is "no good data found". I know that CIRRUS corrections are generally unnecessary with TRR3 data, but the extra pre-processing really helps further on in my analysis. The destriping step is performed correctly, and I obtain an output image, so data exists. I have read the help file and taken a look at the .pro files for these corrections so that I can see what is going on, and varied my input parameters (spatial/spectral kernel size - yet always leaving spectral smoothing at 0) but to no avail. As I understand, in order to flag a spike neighboring spectral bands must both be higher or lower than the current band being examined. To remove these spikes, the spectrum at each pixel is divided by the mean spectrum of each band. The spectrum at each pixel is also divided by an albedo image (the average spectrum across all pixels). I am guessing that somewhere during this division process is where this error occurs, but the fact that a valid destripe image is used as input for the despiking makes me confused about the "no good data" message. I should also say that I don't get this error for all images, only a few. For example, FRTC815 gives this error. But FRT3E12 does not. Elyse

Hello, I notice that when I use the CAT 7.2.1 - Map Utilities - Project Single Cube Data tool, I obtain a different result than when I use the Build GLT tool in ENVI, with: X Geometry band = Band 5 of the associated DDR Y Geometry band = Band 4 of the associated DDR according to the instructions here on slide 23. http://crism.jhuapl.edu/data/CRISM_workshop_2009/docs/agenda/CRISM_Workshop_090322_Nili_Fossae_Walkthrough_FPS.pdf Looking at the IDL projection_event.pro, I see that the lat and lon keywords are defined as follows: ; Pull some planes from the geofile lat = envi_get_data(fid=geofid,dims=dims,pos=3) lon = envi_get_data(fid=geofid,dims=dims,pos=4) Should this be bands 4 and 5 (as in the walkthrough slides) rather than 3 and 4? The filename I am using is: /home/Raw/frt00003e12_07_if166l_trr3_CAT_corr_SUM_classified_noProj.img I know in find_geofile.pro that an automatic search is done for the ddr associated with the default trr3 name, but I'm not sure if it would find the ddr associated with mine as the filename has been altered from the standard CAT convention. Essentially I am wondering which projection method is more correct. Regards, Elyse
  13. Dear All, As I am working in Planetary Sciences, I use hyperspectral imagery for analysis of spectral characteristics of minerals in extra - terrestrial body. I found that CAT_ENVI extension is useful for such analysis. I did download and tried to install as per the instruction found in http://pds-geosciences.wustl.edu/missions/mro/crism.htm I am using ENVI 4.7 with IDL 7.1 in Windows 7. I added command lines as per given in the user guide. There was no errors while i Installed. But I couldn't find the 'CAT_ENVI' tab in ENVI menu. Can anyone suggest me how to solve this issue.   14. Hello, I've created some CRISM IR summary products using the CAT and am visualising them in combination with a HiRISE image. To highlight areas with the largest spectral response, in OLINDEX for example, I have read that typically stretching is performed using zero as the minimum realistic value and the 99th percentile as the maximum. The range of the OLINDEX parameter is very small: Minimum -0.107, Maximum: 0.084, so Adjusted Min: 0, Adjusted Max: 0.043. I was wondering what the typical expected values for these parameters are. What constitutes a significant response? For example, my 99th percentile value is 0.043 but this might still be a very small response compared with other areas. Regards, Elyse
