Hi, I use CRISM data for minerals mapping (in general). Is it possible to compare with GRS instrument (HEND or other products) elements concentration data/map? I am aware of the coarser resolution of GRS products i.e. ~300 km or 5 degrees whereas CRISM spatial resolution is 18/36 m/pixel. Is GRS data available at better resolutions? or by any means can compare these two diverse resolution data results? Can we use GRS instruments data for local mapping of elements concentration despite its coarser resolution? Your comments and suggestions would be highly admired and helpful... Thanks,

I wonder if anyone would have a good book recommendation for getting stuck into ENVI+IDL coding with a focus on this type of data? Has anyone self taught with a particularly useful book?

[From Frank Lemoine, GSFC, in response to a user's request.] The radio science data for at least the Mars-orbiting spacecraft and Venus as well (meaning Magellan) and MESSENGER (Mercury) are at the Geosciences Node of the Planetary Data System. For example for MRO the direct link is the following URL. http://pds-geosciences.wustl.edu/mro/mro-m-rss-1-magr-v1/mrors_0xxx/ Or by navigating from the higher level directory. http://pds-geosciences.wustl.edu/ The MRO archive has directories labelled "tnf" -- Raw TRK2-34 data and "odf" -- Orbit Data File, TRK2-18. The TRK2-18 is easier to handle -- the TRK2-34 takes a lot more work to decode. I'm uncerta…

Hi, I understand that using CAT ENVI tool we can do ATP correction to an CRISM image by selecting a single image file each time. However, I need to use ATP correction for thousands of CRISM images. Just wondering if there is any way I can run batch ATP process multiple images without needing to select a single image at each time? Thank you, Emran

User Bobo Xi August 30, 2017 9:06 AM Dear Prof. I'm a postgraduate in xidian university, china. I'm research in the hyperspectral imge of mars at present and have downloaded the CRISM data on the PDS Geosciences Node. The datatype of the data is MTRDR and ID is “frt0000474a_07_if164j_mtr3”. Then,I have two problems with it : 1.First, I have read the "CRISM Data Product Specification", it said that the TER datas is "A spatially reconciled, full spectral range I/F targeted observation central scan image cube in the IR (L-detector) sensor space that has been corrected for geometric, photometric, atmospheric, and instrumental effects." and "MTRDRs are m…

Hi, I would like to download the MER: Spirit and Opportunity Rover APXS Data with the lat/long information. I have used the NOtebook to download it and got the APXS data with element/oxide concentration. But it missing the Lat/Long information. Can anyone please help me to get this information? I also got the traverse data (shapefile) but I don't see the unique column in both the files which I can use to join the information. I am attaching the snapshot of APXS excel file and the attribute of Shapefile for the information. In the APXS data, is spectrum' name is same as Sol? Snapshot of traverse data: Snapshot of APXS Data: …

August 25, 2017 ENVI header files for the MEGDR image data products have been provided in the EXTRAS directory of the MOLA MEGDR archive in http://pds-geosciences.wustl.edu/mgs/mgs-m-mola-5-megdr-l3-v1/mgsl_300x/extras/, along with the document MOLA_ENVI.PDF, which explains the use of the header files and other methods for providing correct map projection information to ENVI and ArcGIS. See EXTRINFO.TXT for more information. The ENVI header files and MOLA_ENVI.PDF can be downloaded from the data product search result page in ODE.

Hello Experts, After I merged S and L cubes into a single layer, I would like to represent these spectrums (Visible, NIR and SWIR) into a three dimensional cube. I used a "3D cube" tool in ENVI toolbox to do this, then I chose 3 bands from each mentioned spectrum to make a color composite. However, I didn't get the expected result as seen below. Is something wrong? I look forward to your reply. Rochdi.

Hi, I am trying to use the MSP I/F data from CRISM for spectral analysis. It is of the third version (TRR3). I followed these steps: 1)Convert PDS file to CAT file 2)Photometric correction (divide by cosine of incidence angle) 3)Atmospheric correction using the Volcano Scan technique (default 61C4) However I am yet to do the destriping and despiking for the data cube. I am not sure of which option to use - CIRRUS clean cube or the MRO CRISM Remove Stripes. Additionally, I also found that in one of the workshop presentations, it is not necessary to go for destriping and despiking for TRR3 products. Has anyone here processed MSP TRR3 data or have res…

Hello, I am a fourth year Geology student, and for my research project I am doing a comparison of Martian and Terran Alluvial Fans. I'd like to use CRISM data to display the mineralogy of fans in craters. However, the way I was planning on doing this was using ArcMap to show intensity of pixels in bands. I'm not sure if this is a valid methodology and I'd appreciate any advice on how to go about displaying mineralogy. I understand that analysis can be done using ENVI, but I've not had any experience with this. I would also say I'm just about competent in using ArcMap. Thank you!

To whom it may concern, I'm working on a university project where we're supposed to come up with a power solution for a hypothetical rover mission. We've found a lot of useful data on past mars rover missions to guide our design decisions. Looking at the sojourner micro-rover from the pathfinder mission has been especially helpful, as it's basically the scale we're targeting, and there's information available about power usage of different subsystems, power generation from solar panels, and battery capacity. The one thing that we're missing which would really help narrow down design decisions, is a record of energy generated and energy used for each day of the …

Dear all - I understand the conversion and display of .img images has been a long discussed topic. I have visited various feeds/posts & tried searching online but to no avail. So I am hoping if someone can give me some pointers here. Thanks a lot ^^ I am working on converting a digital bouguer map on mars to tiff (https://pds-geosciences.wustl.edu/mro/mro-m-rss-5-sdp-v1/mrors_1xxx/data/rsdmap/ggmro_120_bouguer_90.lbl, with its .img file). I have tried to display the .img file with Nasaview/ImageJ etc but all rendered file type unsupported. Then I tried to translate the .lbl to .tif by gdal, but the output.tif is not displayable (file corrupted). I have tri…

The LOLA data derived products, Digital Elevation Model Coregistered with SELENE Data(SLDEM) and Gridded Data Record Shape Map(GDRDEM) in the south polar region 85S to 90S shows data with only 30m/px resolution. However the South pole atlas, https://www.lpi.usra.edu/lunar/lunar-south-pole-atlas/ discusses data with 5m/px resolution. How and from where can I download the 5m/px resolution DEM of the Lunar South pole region?

I wish to utilize selected portions of Clementine NIR data. I downloaded a few files from the Lunar ODE. One of the downloaded folders was 'CL_0064', which further led to lun276 and lun277 folders and many subsequent folders. The final file had a (.276) extension, which I am not able to open in ENVI. Please let me know the correct procedure to open such files in ENVI or ArcMap. I also downloaded 'clemdcmp' and 'climdisp' from https://pdsimage2.wr.usgs.gov/archive/clem1-l_e_y-a_b_u_h_l_n-2-edr-v1.0/cl_0064/software/ . However, I am not able to install either of the software. Please help!

Hi, I've been working with TRDR CRISM data, specifically trying to identify minerals with the CRISM Spectral library but I keep on ending up with the same spectral signature every time. I corrected atmospherically and photometrically my data cubes and also I have created my IR Summary products. I know something's off because the statistic results are always the same, no matter if I'm working with a D2300 parameter or a BD1900r2 or even with different observations (CRISM scenes) I keep on getting the same results. Could someone help me solve this issue or maybe help me recognize what might be wrong? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks

Hi community, I'm working with ENVI 5.3 + IDL coupled with CAT 7.4 trying to process TRDR images (.trr3). I'm based primarly on the CRISM data processing workshop from 2012 and 2017 and my worksteps are as follows: 1.- Apply the ATM corrections with CAT to the images 2.- Apply de map projection fo the image 3.- Obtain the summary parameters image Nevertheless, I have certain doubts about this, so I would be very grateful if you can provide me some help please. My questions are: - Should I obtain the summary parameters and then apply the map projection or it is the opposite? - It is necessary the "ratioing" for the spectra and use the "Flatten s…
